You Weren’t Meant to Just Get Through the Day.

You were meant to lead it—with clarity, energy, and purpose.

If you’ve ever felt like there’s more in you than what life is asking of you, you’re not broken. You’re just untapped. Let’s change that - by stopping what’s not working and unlocking what’s already there.

Ray

For 55 years, I followed the script. Do what you’re told. Build the career. Climb the ladder. Raise the kids. Smile for the pictures. From the outside, it looked like I had everything—vacations, a country club membership, financial comfort, and a reputation for success. But inside, I was running on autopilot, asking silent questions no one else seemed to be asking: Is this it? Why does success feel so empty? I wasn’t failing. I just wasn’t fulfilled. Walking away from the career I built wasn’t easy. But it was necessary. I stopped chasing what wasn’t mine and discovered what had always been waiting within me. That shift wasn’t just external. It was personal. I stopped performing. Stopped pretending. Stopped shaving to look the part. I stopped wearing the tie—and started living the truth. For over 25 years, I’ve been helping others make that same shift—from living out expectations to leading with intention. Whether they’re executives, entrepreneurs, or people quietly questioning the life they’ve built, the pattern is the same: most of us are untapped. That’s where my work begins. I’m the author of Start with Stop, a book that challenges readers to question their assumptions, drop what’s no longer serving them, and lead from the inside out. I’m also the creator of Within: Leading From the Inside, a leadership experience built for people who are ready to stop managing the performance—and start owning their purpose. My approach doesn’t hand out formulas. It creates space for clarity. Because the truth is: we don’t need more how-to’s. We need more why-not-you’s. Every stage I step on, every coaching session I lead, every conversation I hold—I bring that energy. I don’t talk about becoming perfect. I talk about becoming real. Because when people reconnect with who they are, they stop performing and start living. And that’s when everything changes.

Why this book?

This isn’t about perfection. It’s about clarity. It’s about creating a life you’re excited to wake up to—not one you’re just surviving.

Raving Fans

Unlike many offerings, this book starts with looking at helping you assess what ineffective things should STOP. If you can relate to an area that isn't working, Ray then offers better options so that you might replace bad with better, despairing with hopeful, or stuck with progress.

This isn't "War and Peace", you could read it in just one sitting, but this book reminded me of "The Art of War" in its depth.

Amazon Review

Ray Gage’s thoughtful take on sixteen common mistakes is anything but common. This is not your typical self-help book. It offers generational wisdom, making this a book for anyone at any life stage.

Start with Stop is a book I wish I had to help navigate the last six decades of my life.

This is certain… I’ll be buying copies for our friends, children, and grandchildren.
